i suck. well, more that I'm just feeling blah and it's really cloudy and foggy and I think I may have S.A.D. I haven't really heard from any of my friends in quite a while. I'm finally not as crazy busy as I had been and so I'm feeling a bit restless.

it's craptacular

i think it's time to find a new vet. poor wiley, our wonder rescue chessie hasn't been feeling well since saturday. he yakked a couple times and then had "stomach issues". oh joy. sunday he didn't eat at all, not even a snausage treat but he was drinking. and yes, the first thing I did saturday was feel his throat and body just to make sure we didn't have a repeat of the ball swallowing incident. debated calling work yesterday so i could bring him in, but luckily my hubby returned from his weekend trip to take him in later.

of course they wanted to keep him overnight. we call today for an update and they tell us his temp is good, "he's eating good" (not the time to correct their poor grammar) but "he has a nasty case of diarrhea." no shit. i then explained to the desk person i knew he wasn't feeling well because he wouldn't eat his snausage. she thought i said sausage. i then had to explain what a snausage was to this woman. are you kidding me? Ever been in a grocery store?? Her reason for not knowing these dog treats? she only bought food for her pets from the vet. okkkay.

trust me, i know what MY dogs are like and could have taken care of a simple case myself. we've had to give them immodium before and have had enough experience with ear infections and everything else. *rolls eyes* if they kept him overnight have they done the bloodwork like they said they were going to yesterday?
I'm not freaking out; I'm jsut a little ticked off and i won't be going in there later, the hubby is.
other than a sick puppy, it's been a good week.

friday when I arrived home from work, my garbage dvd was waiting for me on the front step. changed, made a pasta dish while the videos played and- what perfect timing- sat down with my dinner and a glass of beaujolais to watch the documentary.
saw the 11th hour saturday.
it's my weekend and we're celebrating our anniversary a couple days early on thursday by dining at the Joel Palmer House...yum. and I'm buying these rocking shoes. :)

fittingly, it's been exactly five months since I last posted. It feels like my bum has been glued to my chair for that length of time and my eyes have been staring at this damn screen while I give myself carpal tunnel.

But, it's here! My birthday (tomorrow) and graduation (next weekend) (from college-fucking finally!)
I'm thinking there will be a couple pints of Guinness involved and a little bit of stepdancing to 'face.' ;)

The irony is the more I've been entrenched in my studies, the less I want to be involved in political science... I think at times I'm too logical and tire of normative analysis. One blessing has been not tuning into tv (save for hockey) so I've missed all the blowhards and idiots amok through the networks.

It's been a roller coaster of a year; bookended by deaths of loved ones but that's just how life is, isn't it? I can only hope I've absorbed some of the grace and dignity that these loved ones carried with them. But not before I be a complete dork in the next 24 hours!

christ, has it really been three weeks since I last posted??

well, even so, not too much to report. We rejected the traditional literal and figurative gorge that is Christmas. Rather than spending what little free time we had shopping, I made a Chinese meal on christmas day- a la A Christmas Story with our own twists.... no dead bird with a head but beef and broccoli, egg rolls, and fortune cookies. I spent that day and the next couple trying to get rid of a sore throat.

Capped off the holiday season by finally getting together with my friend K for our annual tradition. Pizza and a slightly dark, twisted film. Well, I don't know that I would consider A Scanner Darkly in that category but it was somewhat interesting. Also watched Little Miss Sunshine this week which had me laughing out loud a couple times. Worked major hours last week as classes officially start up again today so I'm back down to limited hours, in that respect at least.

Because of my schedule last week, I really didn't see my spouse until Wed night- we both had Thurs off, so we were up until 2:30am just talking and having some interesting discussions about life, politics, philosophy, science.. all the usual but we were both far more appreciative of the time spent together that night I think. Which is good once in a while ,but we're both glad to be falling back into a more normal routine- especially after the last few months.

Heop the new year is off to a great start for all my friends who read this and anyone else who cares!

Depending on how my workload shapes up, I may or may not be blogging as regularly as I had been...(obviously!)
