feeling a bit better, slowly getting needed tasks done today. Nothing beats sleeping in a bit later with a warm "puppy" curled right up to me on each side.
I had some seriously weird people to assist yesterday; man this doesn't bode well for the rest of the fourth quarter! Generally, my experience in retail has always been pretty positive, but all it takes is for one whacked out person to ruin a good day. Yesterday though provided some anecdotes. I had not one, but TWO, different customers actually yell at the people in line behind them for touching their items as the others tried to put their stuff on the belt. these two customers didn't seem particularily cranky and were nice to me, so it was just funny. Later in the evening had a jesus freak bemoan the fact that their father hadn't accepted faith as she has, that whole spiel. At these times, I just try to go kind of deaf as I'm the last person to want to open that can of worms. I'll probably tick that one off for my standard happy holidays greeting. whatever.
I should have my bass here in three days! I may try and bring it to the local music store and do a trade in for a new upright sometime soon.

not much to say right now.... I've worked all weekend and am still trying to do holiday prep. I feel crappy, like I'm getting a cold. I've been able to sleep most of the night, but the past two mornings I've woken up earlier than my alarm, like 5ish as I am all stuffed up. lovely. Luckily, today is kind of my Friday so hopefully I'll be able to nip this in the bud. the last thing I need in the next couple of weeks is to be ill.

Unfortunately, after returning home from work, I haven't had the chance to play more with the DVD recorder... our nephew came up to go hunting with my guy tomorrow so they're hanging out and I'm on the computer. To continue my queenly domestic status, I bought some new curtains for the dining room; finally some that are more my taste.
The curtains are a step in preparing for my folks to visit at Thanksgiving. Originally, I told them not to come as my guy will be hunting and I would be working/preparing for finals. Did they listen? Of course not, but now I'm looking forward to the time... they just recently moved out west and have a load of stuff for me, including my upright bass that I've had FOREVER (since I was 10)! That's the only thing I know for sure that will be here, and even though I haven't played it in over 6 years, I'm so excited about it. It's akin to riding a bike, right? Once I pick up the bow, I'll be fine- every so often I still have dreams in which I'm playing. I do like playing my bass guitar, but it's just not the same.
For those who are just as musically obsessed as I am, you'll understand when I say that having my bass here is another form of therapy.
With that, I will bid you adieu and bon soir as I need to give my chessies some attention and playtime.

next I take over the world
So we went and picked up my xmas present today, seeing as I would get a really good discount and I am now in the middle of dubbing a Polar Bear show onto DVD for my friends holiday gifts.
Yeah- go me!
Yeah- go me!

it's the little things..
so, I arose early this morning to do some required reading and flipped on the telly.
Happened to catch a bit of U.S. of Ant this morning and what do I hear?
a little snippet of Polar Bear's "face", which happens to be one of my favorite songs, in the episode- better than a shot of espresso imo
as a side note, I discovered several years ago, you can do a kick ass Irish step dance to that song. And believe me, there are a few stories involving that whole scenerio.. I'd advise not trying my version alone in case of concussion. ( and that was while sober thank you!)

the first few days after I created this blog, I was wavering on sending it to an early grave... but of course I had to continue in order to sort of stay connected with a friend.
I tried calling him tonight as I had some funny, weird stuff to share, alas he's very difficult to get a hold of. So this bit is for you my friend..
I had a totally bizarre dream last night... one that involved several of my friends, polar bears, having a baby (the product of C and I, thank you) green hair, a body pillow (along the lines of the pillowcase, yes J, that pillowcase), and my speaking several languages...including norwegian, french, irish (all of which I sort of speak) and russian and hebrew (which I don't). and you and a friend in MN (well, more her doing) totally, completely embarrassed me. As far as I know, it was well worth it. Any other details you'll have to wait for until we see each other again or talk without my man around!
after last holiday season, I now have to hunt (no pun intended!) for the best polar bear card ever, as any previous renditions have been completely bested. damn you! ;)
